Camy Shanghai Dumpling and Noodle Restaurant has been closed. Again. By the Department Of Health (or whoever it is that shuts down restaurants). Again. Damn and blast. There goes one of the yummiest, most affordable meals out in Melbourne. Damn damn damn.

You have seen the state of their kitchen, haven't you? That was pretty dodgy. And the way that when you wiped their bowls with a white napkin it turned ugly grey? That was pretty dodgy too.

But goddamn that dodgyness when rolled in pastry and deep fried was damn tasty.

...and, when you think about it, how much bad bacteria could actually withstand being deep-fried? I mean, it's very good for taro cake and beef dumplings, but surely boiling hot oil kills salmonella... right? (Keeping in mind I had to sit the supp exam for micro in third year...)

The main thing that worried me was the festy festy tea and the festy festy "tea cups".

I don't think those things ever got dried and I don't think the tea ever actually got boiled. It was probably sitting right on a lovely 40 degrees, perfect for harbouring whatever the boiling oil didn't kill.....

But they did do the absolutely bestest taro cake I've had anywhere. :'(
