It was just after the funeral of my mother that I received the letter. From my father, a man I'd never known. This was a chance to uncover all of his secrets. I knew I had to follow him, even if he was already dead. What choice did I have?

The documents he left for me, there was no way to ignore the curiosity they stirred within me. His notes led me to a remote location in Greenland.

My shelter from the storm was the mining shaft I discovered. It was a foolish choice.

As empty as it might have seemed, what remained were hints as to the fate of those who had come before me. I found only one person down there. Red.

Red the minor, trapped underground for years.

Red the madman, only barely clinging to coherence.

Red, my only friend.

I don't expect you to understand, but I had to kill him. He asked me to do it. How could I refuse the request of the one person who gave me comfort in that terrible place ( ... )

At first, everything felt... strange. He was there, yet he wasn't. There were strange sounds that seemed to be coming from some place far away, yet close... the buzzing sound above him, something hitting against a metallic surface heavily... and voices. Loud, scared, suffering voices.

Gray woke up with a sharp pain in his head, his mind confused and his vision blurred. It took him a while to finally sit up and look at his surroundings. Everything was... so strange, to say the least. The ice mage had no idea where he was, or why he was there. Was this a room? ...No.

This was a cell.

He stood up, his whole body feeling sore. Looking down at the poor state that the mattress was in, it wasn't surprising. Trying not to feel too disgusted by it, he moved his hands to his sweater, ready to remove it, mostly out of habit. However, he stopped mid-way. He put it back down as he felt the cold air give him goose bumps.

Gray Fullbuster was feeling cold"What the hell... What's going on here ( ... )

Gazille had been awake for a few hours when he finally heard the voices of two of his team mates. One seemed to be talking to himself, while the other seemed to be worried over someone he didn't even know about. The source of the screams just happened to be in the cell next to his, and the man's voice wasn't one he recognized.

During the time he had been awake, the iron dragonslayer tried to look for a way to escape. But, alas, easier said than done. Though he had found a ventilation shaft nicely hidden behind a desk, he just couldn't get it out of the wall. For some reason, he couldn't use his magical powers, and even normal attacks seemed to be far weaker than they used to be.

So, he was now trying to find something that could pull the grate off the wall. He needed something to work as a wedge, and the wooden chair could prove to be useful. However, he stood up and leaned on the door, looking in the direction of where Natsu's voice came from. The chair could wait.

"Shut up, Natsu. You'll get unwanted attention if you keep that up
