When he set out, Natsu had convinced himself that he was going to be helpful to the guild. He'd do some reconnaissance, check out the borders, and report back anything that Fairy Tail needed to know.

Now that he was in his car however, he really didn't care as much about all of that. It was speed that he'd been craving. Having the Fireball at top momentum was one of the most adrenaline-pumping feelings in the world. To hell with preserving the precious magic he'd obtained. What was the point in having transport magic if you didn't use its full potential?

He knew in the back of his mind that he was nearing the place where Fairy Tail had been recently located, and was half-keeping watch for it. Truthfully though, it would have been more exciting if he came across some of the kingdom's soldiers.

As long as they didn't separate him from his car.

Lucy had trekked a good ways from the guild when she heard the familiar rumble of the Fireball. Her heart sped in her chest in time to the racing of the approaching vehicle, and she licked her lips to rid them of their sudden dryness.

Sticking her chest out and a thumb in the air, she hailed Natsu as if she were a hitch-hiker.

When he rumbled to a stop in front of her, she leaned in, bosom spilling through the window. "Gimme a ride?" she grinned happily.

It'd been easy to identify the blond girl, traveling alone yet showing no signs of trepidation. Her hitchhiking pose made him crack a smile.

He slid his goggles up to his forehead to better make eye contact. "I guess I've got room for one more." Though of course he could easily sit three or four more passengers.

Motioning that Lucy should open the door, he teased with a cocked eyebrow. "You're gonna have to sit in the back though. I don't let just anyone sit up front." The entire conversation was bullshitted so far, but it still entertained him to poke some fun at his guild mate. While he had the nerve.

"Oh? Listen to you being such a brute," she exclaimed, poking at his non-existent cheek dimple as she crawled into the front seat and stayed there. If he kept it up she was going to have to start pinching him.

If she let him get away with making her pulse (and libido) race, who knew where things would escalate.

"And on top of that, you've been gone too long," she nagged him because she was relieved he was back and safe.

When the car took off, she was jostled back against the seat, a pleasant heat pooling inside of her. It was always amazing to her the way Natsu effortlessly handled the mechanical beast. One wrong move and... Well, Lucy wasn't in the habit of thinking about such morbid things.
