I remember seeing on the news when I was in Phoenix that Arizona was trying to cover an ENORMOUS state budget shortfall, and the governor was going to run away to DC instead of helping the state government fix it. It sucks that they're cutting into the education funding to cover it. Here there's a smaller budget deficit, but they're trying pretty damn hard not to take money away from education. OU's not laying off anyone, but they have notified all staff and faculty that they won't be getting raises this year.
