Anyone willing to write an academic recommendation for graduate school/teaching assistantship? Anyone? I'm a good student. I work hard. Some say I'm intelligent.

I feel like there was this bright shining light at the end of the tunnel and now it's been snuffed out.

Did unnamed possible recommender not come through? sadsortosinging January 11 2006, 02:35:56 UTC
You could always find someone who is willing to sign off on whatever you write yourself.
It doesn't feel good,
but apparently, it works.

did she flat out say no?
Does it absolutely need to be an academic reference? I'll write you one.

I just need three references (unlike Elliott, this is NOT the Ivy League - YAY ELLIOTT! - just little Erie), but the English chair recommended that I get someone from college to show a little of my academic side, since I have the literacy program/teaching from Lynn, and the group leading/young adult experience from Herb, now I just need something academic. I'm guessing my 3.82 GPA doesn't stand on its own? I dunno. I can't even turn in the application without naming a third reference. And unfortunately, it seems like the two profs I had the most classes with are the ones who don't deal with grads. I need a third reference.

And I called Houghton four times today.

I'm feeling a sense of urgency since the due date is a month away today, and I still want to give my other references some time to do their thing and not only have three days to get something back to Erie.

You have a higher GPA than me (not too surprising :).
But if I can get into Princeton with a 3.78,
you should shoot higher than Erie maybe.
But it does sound like an amazing program.
You should totally be able to get it.
Don't give up!

ha! that's exactly what I thought.
And Jer, I thought of you as we drove past the IKEA in New Haven on our way to Staten Island last week.

actually, i can't hate too much on uconn (shout out to becca), but i spare no love either. i just have issues with teams/coaches who allow laptop-stealing and pawning players come back to the team, let alone school, just because he wants a championship.

but i do love this time of the year. 15-0, baby!

duke curse - check out uconn last year and this, and then michigan state. too much to be coincidental....

PS - it seems to wreck teams to play Duke - look at poor Texas (although, if they beat Duke in March/April, I take back the 'poor') and how long it took them to bounce back... and now Wake Forest and Maryland... who play each other this weekend. I'm curious to see which team is more pissed off. I need to check times to watch that one.
