I used to self inflict pain on myself when I was in Highschool.
I made promises to stop over and over to my friends then, but promises are made to be broken.
I still do it when I get upset. It just makes me feel better, even though most see it as cowardly, including myself. They are never big enough to cause speculation, and they are never more than 2 or 3 at a time.
I'm secretive about it, and you are the only person I've told about this, even though I think about telling people every chance I get.

I need help, but am to afraid to seek it for fear of being thought a basket case, or being treated differently.
