Recipe time!

No, not the semlor recipe, ironlord, but something related, in that this is a recipe I started doing to use up the spare cardamom from the semlor. It's actually a golden syrup cake recipe stolen from the internet, but I've tweaked it a wee bit and stuffed cardamom in it, so here we go...

Perkele!

But, on the positive side, this isn't an LJ post that contains only whining, wangst and self-pity, which seems to have been the general trend over the last two or three weeks. Golden syrup cake would seem to be as close to the complete opposite of that as it gets. Marvellous.

Even more marvellous is that I have all these ingredients, and I might give it a go myself. Actually, I have no cardamom, but I do have ginger, cinnamon and nutmeg, so I will improvise.

Has it? Don't look at me, my last post was an (entirely positive) review of an Italian zombie movie. Admittedly the one before that was the "oh cock" post re Dead's tribute site being kaput, but I feel that was a completely legitimate bit of upset on my part...

Ginger, cinnamon and nutmeg? That might be interesting - let me know how it turns out!

Not from you or Keri, let's say. But rather more people - mainly from off our shores - are turning LJ into one massive emo whine-fest at the moment, far beyond even what I'd feared LJ was like before I first braced myself to join.

I suppose that it's taken eight years for that to happen I should be partially grateful for...

Not guilty m'lud. I'm pretty sure nothing I've posted recently could be considered either whiny or emo.

Ginger, cinnamon and nutmeg works really well in cake. Especially with syrup - I have a recipe for a spice cake where you put black treacle into half the mixture and swirl it in, it tastes like bonfire toffee and chai.

BTW Rath the Golden Syrup Weighing Trick is possibly the greatest idea ever, and my kitchen thanks you for it, as do my housemates who will no longer cry out "WTF?!?" as their bare feet stick to the floor and their bacon sandwich is glued to the worktop.
