[Review] Ravenage + Old Corpse Road, Whitby 1/6/12

[Review started on Saturday, finished now... that took too long...]

As I sit here in my favourite recliner with faintly crispy-feeling eyeballs and that strange iron-shavings taste in the back of my throat that means "you did not sleep enough and nothing will make it better until you go back to bed", watching hellbound_heart nap in the spare armchair and waiting

An epic night it was too. But don't forget it was me who supplied "...because I'm tired of the South!", rather than Glyn, because he always tends to shove the microphone my way these days. Heh. And don't forget it was me who supplied Ravenage's intro tape, either, the aforementioned Invictus Arminius that I had on my iRiver and the band hadn't brought with them...

Also, don't forget that while neither of these bands have played Wacken, they have both done Bloodstock - Ravenage in 2008, when they were far less well known, and OCR in (I think) 2010. And yes, they always give everything they've got. Not that any of Ravenage would remember - only Glyn and Elliot are left from that line-up! They've had such a revolving door that I've long since given up on trying to keep up with the pseudonyms...

I don't know what arcane ritual it takes to turn Ravenage from a bunch of very nice blokes into a band of red-clad, painted berserkers

Hint: it starts with "B" and ends with "eer".
