Yep, it's time for another one of these. For newer readers: the Six Things Post is my occasional method of reminding myself, and sharing with my friends, why this life ain't so bad - six things that have happened to me today, or within the last few days, that have made me happy. I haven't done one in a while but I've been feeling a bit tired and ( Read more... )

...and on special post marks - I'm not actively collecting them, but tend to send my mail from those two museums here that have special cancellation of their own (one reason though is because mail left there is hand-sorted just because of that special-cancellation, they're less likely to get damaged compared to machine-sorted mail left to post offices), and tend also to send some extra greetings to friends on such city celebration day, when there is special cancellation only for that day :D

Besides, sending mail from ships, there will be beside the usual cancellation also rubber stamped picture of the ship it was sent from! At first me and my friends (who at some point had cheerful habit of sending each other mysterious cards every time we worked on a cruise) thought it's probably just the ship company's stamp, but then we tested and sneaked greetings also to those ships' mailboxes where we worked just short shifts - and it turned out each ship indeed has individual one. How cool!

Oooooh, cool! I really want some of those now - I suppose it makes sense that ships would have their own postmarks, but I'd never thought of it before. How awesome!

2. I think anyone can in England as well, but like you, I don't send enough post to do it! Which is a shame...

3. Thank you! I've got all my fingers crossed... trying to get a Norwegian band called Tombstones for a gig in November and praying it comes off. International gigs in a town the size of Whitby would be such a coup!

5. Hmm - your method sounds like a slightly more aggressive version of the one Eve uses, which is more about bringing the demons/monsters around to your side than simply banishing them. Can see how either version might be valid depending on how you view the world, though. Thanks for sharing! (I admit I had to laugh at the evil parrot though.)

6. Believe me, if I could you'd be welcome to it. To quote Leonard Cohen for a moment, give me back my broken nights...
