Restless as always, Faith wandered down to the music room. After the Halloween thing, and finding out that the whole zombie attack had been a prank, Faith hadn't really spent any 'extracurricular' time with Haruka. She coulda at least told me it wasn't gonna be real...Not like she didn't have opportunity. Still, it had been a couple weeks, and she ( Read more... )

Hidden in the large room and behind a piano, harp and several other big instruments and assorted music books sat Vanya with her cello. Though it wasn't officially her cello, she was the only one who played it and she had come to know it very well during the past two months.

She found the sound of the cello enchanting, even hypnotizing and playing it like this almost brought her in a trance. Thus, she hardly noticed that Faith had entered the music room as well, nor did she hear her calling out for Haruka.

But the presence of someone in the room did not go unnoticed and it pulled Vanya rudely from her peaceful moment of happiness. "Faith Lehane," the Seer said as the last tones of her cello faded away. "What do you want? Haruka isn't here."

Brought up short by the unfamiliar voice, once again seemingly coming from nowhere. God dammit why do I always seem to find the monsters I can't kill?? Faith grumbled inwardly, ignoring the fact that the first 'ghost' hadn't really been a ghost.
"Okay, thanks," she said, holding up her hands and beginning to back out of the room. "I'll leave you to your...whatever."

There was a thin bitterly amused smile on her face as she felt fear coming from the supposedly tough Slayer. Either rumours about her had spread already, or...

While she always said she was not a mind-reader, Vanya had come to know the worst sides of mankind quite well. She decided to gamble on the right answer - if only to scare the Slayer even more - and said, "You think I'm a ghost. How amusing. While I have quite some affinity with the dead, you are actually the first one to think I am actually belonging to the dead. It scares you, doesn't it?"

Although she wasn't sure she could trust the invisible voice to be telling the truth about not being a ghost - and weren't some ghosts in denial anyways? - she calmed down a bit, halting her retreat to lean against the doorframe.
"Hey, I ain't scared of shit. I just don't need a hassle with something that I can't hurt back."
