open to spike (em)

Every lead that Spike and I had followed up until now had grown cold or turned up empty. It was starting to feel like someone or something was playing us. Making us perform tricks like rats in a maze looking for the prize. The prize wasn't cheese though, it was Faith, and I was finished performing tricks.

"We'll find her," I told him, despite Spike not saying anything to contradict that. Maybe I needed to hear it.

"Do you think she's still on Orpheus?" I asked, an idea suddenly coming to me. It was dangerous, but that had never stopped my brother and me before.

"If she is...perhaps if we can't find her on this plane of existence, we will be able to locate her in hell."

Orpheus was a ride that no other drug could provide. It took you deep into hell and left you there. You had to bask in it, roll around and feel it seize complete control of you, and then you had to claw your way back up to the surface.

"Perhaps we should go to the clubs she liked and see if we can find the drug. If we can't find her, then maybe our mystical magic carpet ride will lead us to her."
