"In the jungle you must wait until the dice read five or eight," Britta read aloud, glancing up from the board at the others. "What does that even -" The point of the clue became evident before she even finished talking, though, as everyone vanished from sight.

More accurately, Britta was the one to vanish, disappearing from one jungle to another ( Read more... )

There was something fishy going on. He knew this, because Iron Man had called him from space and told him that the portal to the space station wasn't working.

This was a thing that happened to him, Keith Mars. This was part of his life.

Since then, there'd been a few calls from people up there wanting to talk to their loved ones, a fair flow of people. So another one wasn't that surprising, for a busy day...

...except she'd been running.

He sat up. "Are you all right?"

"Alright would be overstating things," Britta said, leaning one hand on the desk, the other pressed to her chest. She'd been running a lot lately. She really wasn't much of a runner. "On the second island, they need help. There's a group stranded and someone is trying to kill them. And, and Adelle's been shot, so a doctor, we could use one of those."

The bit about the board game could wait, though she'd have to explain herself eventually. She needed to get out the important bits first.

Keith was on his feet at the word kill and around the desk by shot.

"Who? Who is trying to kill them?" he said, and then paused. "If they're over there, how do you know?"

"There's some kind of magic game," Britta said, shaking her head and gesticulating wildly. "I know it sounds crazy, but they found Jumanji over there and started playing and it sent me back and Dean's dad is trying to kill them, so I think how matters a lot less than how do we stop him." She didn't care how crazy it sounded; they needed help now.

"Woah-ho-ho!" Felix exclaimed, surprised but friendly as he exited the Compound only to find Britta racing up, looking rather frazzled. At least she seemed to have settled in nicely. "Where's the fire?"

"On the second island," Britta announced, then shook her head. "Wait, no, no, no fire. It's not a fire, there's a - there is a crazy man. Trying to kill people. I need a rescue party, Felix, now." As long as she told someone, that was the important point, and the more people the better. They would need a lot of help over there.

"Oh my God!" Felix exclaimed, looking frantically around them and ducking as if the crazy man in question was about to spring out from behind one of the trees. "Well, what are we just standing around here for? Let's go!" It did not yet occur to him that rescue parties tended to consist of more than two people. They had no time to waste.

"Wait!" Britta called out, grabbing his arm before he could make a dash for the beach or something. "I think we kind of need other people or something, right? I mean, this is a guy with a gun and a possessed board game, we need to call out, like, the ITF on this. I don't usually approve of militarized task forces, but these people are going to get killed, so I can make an exception. Oh, oh, oh, and a doctor, we need a doctor." They had Adelle patched up for now, but there was no telling how things would have changed by the time they got over there again.
