I wonder how high is the humidity over there? Depending on that, desert coolers (water based) are much more energy-efficient and cheaper to operate.

With global warming, I hope that at least in Europe they will have enough sense to encourage energy-efficient solutions, like desert coolers where appropriate, and white roofs over red/black tiled ones.

The humidity is about 68% at the moment. We're positioned directly on shore of the sea so in most cases the humidity is pretty high.

The city has been installing district cooling (as opposed to district heating) to cool down the buildings in the center of the city. What they do is put pipes to the bottom of the sea to cool down the water circulation in the district cooling. The during winter they switch the heating back on.

Ouch. Way too high for coolers, then. Interesting solution with the sea water. Stay cool.

We've had 33ºC today with 70% humidity. At least we have air conditioners almost in every home and certainly in every office.

I feel your pain (not today obviously, it's overcast and chilly, but theoretically and remembering such hot days in poorly designed buildings)

Thanks.

Could somebody get some clouds somewhere, please? Pretty please? They've predicted that the ~30 will continue to next week too. I'll be a puddle of grease by then.

Needless to say, I'm loving it.

Apart from these bloody hateful useless disgusting mean-sounding biting itching sleep-stealing fucking awful mosquitos :-p.

We're averaging in the mid-20*s, here, and that's a little unusual. It's usually much warmer (closer to mid-30*s) and less wind. Much less wind; it's been very breezy for over a month.

I'm pretty much all right with the temps as they are but it's kinda unsettling.

I guess I could get used to it but sudden heat waves like this makes you feel sluggish.

What we need right now is the San Francisco fog to come in and cool everything down.
