Oh, this was lovely. So sad, but beautifully written.

Yes, I agree-This was beautifully written. I liked the simularities between Charlie and Penny. I love PB&J too but all that you wrote was absolutely true. I guess that's another thing I tried to overlook in the show that Claire didn't appreciate him even at that time. I can't believe this is your last Lost fic! I'll comment on your other entry..

Thanks Jemmz. Yeah I read so much lovely PB&J fic that I sometimes forget that in the show Claire wasn't always that loving. The relationship felt very onesided in the end.

This is just beautiful - the words, the imagery, the concept, the comparison of Penny to Charlie, and the momentary respite. I should be more articulate but that's all that's coming to me right now. You’ve left me speechless and choked up.

If you have to go, and I respect that decision, what a way to go out.

Thank you for this final poignant moment between Charlie and Desmond.

Wow, thanks ell. I'm pleased you found it so powerful. I've had this little Ches moment at the back of my mind for a while now. Charlie must have felt unsafe at all times. I could imagine it being so stressful that he wouldn't be able to sleep. And Desmond is the only one who could possibly make him feel secure (even if it was only a temporary respite).

So I’m here for the feedback challenge “Greatest Hits” category. I had skipped that week originally for lack of time but because of my delay, I am here very close to your Desmond/Charlie anniversary, which makes this a special day to leave feedback for this fic again. It’s also meaningful because I’m reading this after Purple Rain, one might say a sequel of sorts. I find this such a touching story, a moment of peace in the hurricane of flashes. Desmond takes on a variation of his role as protector, but its one that offers him comfort too. I just wanted to let you know that ‘Sharing the Night’ is one of my favourite fics. It’s the lovely tribute to the characters.

Awww! I'm so honoured to be one of your Greatest Hits (do I get a Driveshaft ring?).

I'm having such a nice anniversary. I definitely think of 'Purple Rain' as a sequel to my own personal Charlie/Des verse, especially this fic which is not plotty, but just focused on the emotional side of things. I always loved writing Desmond POV. My perception of Des was always very noble and sentimental in spite of his desperate circumstances.

Thanks for rereading! It really means a lot.

That was beautiful and I love your interpretation of Charlie and Desmond's friendship. I totally agree with your interpretation of Claire and Charlie relationship - she didn't care that much for him. In your last fic, you've have described something I wanted to see in the show - someone truly caring for Charlie. Thank you.

"In your last fic, you've have described something I wanted to see in the show - someone truly caring for Charlie. Thank you."

Oooh! I'm so glad you interpreted it that way. I knew I wanted to start this fic with Desmond brooding over his own issues and not wanting to be bothered by Charlie - then opening his heart up and feeling that he wanted to comfort Charlie.

*Sigh* I wish the PB&J in your vids was the one we saw on the show. Alas I think you are right about Claire. I felt like Desmond, Hurley and Aaron cared about Charlie more in the end.

He watched Charlie’s face closely as the mask of his bravado slipped, revealing a young man who didn’t want to die, who wasn’t ready to disappear and who couldn’t understand this endless cycle of assassinations that the universe had launched upon him.

He met Desmond’s eyes and nodded.Dom always said he wanted to go out with a bang - and indeed I think that his final episodes were his absolute best performances. Well darling, I think you just went out with your own personal bang as well, because this? This was simply, tragically beautiful ( ... )

I'm so glad you think this is a strong story to go out on, sapphire. I wasn't so sure myself. - I'm more than sure. This is by far my favourite piece of yours. It was just wonderful.

Yes Dom's performance in the last few episodes of S3 was mindblowing. See what the boy can do when they give him something to sink his teeth into! It made the writers look even more stupid though for wasting and then letting go of such a brilliant actor, one of their best. - there's not a lot I can say to that except...EXACTLY! Stupid writers.

It really makes the writing worthwhile to know how much you've appreciated it! - I know the feeling! Probably a little too well tbh =P

And you are most welcome for all the reviews m'dear - it was an honour and a supreme pleasure.
