More Orphan, more Orange.

First a quick health update for anyone who's interested. I'm feeling a little better. My doctor has confirmed that while I do still have a hormone imbalance (high stress hormones in particular), the pill seems to be the main thing that has been messing me up, so now I'm coming off it there's hope that my body might re-balance itself naturally. To ( Read more... )

Thanks for the support. I hope I can right myself without meds too. It's a bumpy road so far. Sometimes I feel a lot better, almost back to normal, then my hormones will spike or dip and I'll feel like a crazy woman and I'll be wracked with insomnia ( ... )

If I do ever try watching PLL will you promise not to be angry or disappointed with me if I end up not getting into it? This has seriously become my biggest fear about watching, lol. The worry that I might not like it and then you’ll think I suck ( ... )

First of all, I'm glad you're feeling better and I hope you are able to re-balance yourself naturally! (although that diet sounds rough! But if it helps without drugs/surgery, then that's a plus of course.)

I watched the Orphan Black finale on a plane and I teared up when I thought Cosima died! Luckily she moved before I had a full-blown meltdown in midair. As for Rachel... IDK, it's clearly a show that's not afraid to kill its characters, but I've got my fingers crossed she'll be running around with an eyepatch next season.

I also finished OITNB season 2! I found it... less plausible than season 1, but I still loved it. I think my favorite part was Taystee's backstory. I thought Vee was a great, complex villainess although I mostly just wanted her to LEAVE THOSE GIRLS ALOOOONE >:( also I thought it was weird that her foster-incest was briefly shown and then basically dropped? Weird. Oh well, I still loved it overall and will happily binge watch season 3 :)

Hey! Welcome back from your trip. So jealous of you seeing Cabaret. That has always been one of my faves ( ... )

Thanks! To be honest I think jealousy is a pretty adequate response.

The one thing I really miss is alcohol.
I hear you... I can't drink with my painkillers for my ankle. It's not like I drink that often even but I miss having it as an option. Hopefully soon we can virtually raise glasses to each other!

Okay it seems like I'm attached to more OB characters than I thought.
Right. Like, uh, I guess maybe Sarah's ex-boyfriend could die? Or some of the remaining cult people? Or some new characters I don't care about yet?

BTW, I sent you a rec request message on Goodreads. Did you see it?
I did see it and have been pondering it!

Thank you so much for all your SF recs. I've got that Cinder one in my own library and I've been wondering for a while whether it's actually good or just gimmicky. I'll check out all of your suggestions though.

Me too. I'm not a big drinker either but I don't like being a non-drinker.

Cal can't die either! He is kinda hot as Alison and Cosima observed. Cult people and Dyad people can die but then it's not like I care about them at all.

I'm done with Orange! I really liked this season because we got more on Lorna and Rosa and even that one inmate with the baby. Heck, even with Fig, though I really didn't like her. Running a prison isn't easy.

I don't think Vee's influence changes my view of Suzanne. Vee had a similar influence on Taystee. Only difference is Taystee saw what Vee really was. I see what it does to the women to be alone. Even Piper, whom this season was blessedly not about.

I loved the quiet partnership of Norma and Gloria too. One day we'll get Norma's story!

John Bennett is boring me. Fig's husband's lover/aide reminded me a bit of Gaeta. BSG would have been interesting on Netflix!

Yay! My faves of S1 were Suzanne and Nicky and I still love both of them, but S2 was all about Poussey and Morello for me. And I do really like Piper but I agree that I prefer her not to be the focal protagonist. Vee was a horrifying villain.

I felt S2 was very lacking in Sophia (what happened to her screentime, seriously?) and I was sad we didn't get one mention of Miss Claudette but mostly I really enjoyed it.

I was thinking about Sophia today. How she doesn't fit in with the black girls at all. She's black, but she's alone. Vee didn't try and recruit her and she could have with Sophia's access to everyone's hair. Sophia must be very lonely.

I forget who Morello was. Vee was relentless. I'm not over RJ. She might have gotten Suzanne killed or something!

I'm still wondering what happened to Miss Claudette and that woman in the SHU who talked to Piper (who might have been delusional).

There will always be mysteries, I guess!
