I know I got here late to the party and hardly know you, but I'm sorry to see you go. Best of luck in your real life! And thanks for leaving your archive open as I know I (for one) will be back to reread favorite fics of yours.

Aww, I had a feeling it was coming. It's sad to see the diaspora of LJ to tumblr, and yeah, tumblr is not quite the same, but ... you CAN still post essays and share stuff on there. I see so many text posts, and while a lot of comments for a fandom aren't necessarily lengthy, the discussion they inspire can be. I once wrote a 4 page rebuttal to someone's meta post on Jesse being BPD. Anyway, I think it depends on what's posted. Controversial opinions always spur on debate.

I come around here once a week to see who's left and what's been posted, but I've been busy and focused on other things, so haven't commented on much, except tv shows. As for BCS, I know people are falling all over that show, but it's no Breaking Bad. I don't think it's that amazing, it's just a good television show.

Hey, are you still planning on sending me that thing some time?

I'm currently following Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell. Did you see it when it played in the UK? I can't remember if we talked about the book or not.

I've never had any written responses to anything I've posted on Tumblr. I've got one picture post (below) that's received over 30,000 notes, but none of those 1000s of users actually talking to me. Never made a fandom friend through Tumblr. I made all my fandom connections through LJ and forums. Both those fandom platforms seem to be dying out.

Controversial opinions always spur on debate.

That's another thing I dislike about it though. Most people don't communicate or convey elaborate ideas in Tumblr text posts. They mostly just blurt and rant, the shorter and more simplified the better chance of getting reblogs. Who cares about fucking reblogs? Three thoughtful comments on LJ that I can reply to is better than 30,000 reblogs.

So sorry you're leaving. I thought about it several times but can't bring myself to do that.

Most of my best LJ friends left long ago :( It's lifeless these days.

I am late in commenting because I haven't had a chance to yet, but wanted to tell you that I'm really glad I met you on here! I loved all your BrBa meta and all of our discussions about it. I recently ventured onto Tumblr, and you're right - it is definitely not as debate friendly as this site. I find it pretty baffling most of the time to be honest! I have made some friends thru fanfiction sites by pm'ing authors that I like directly and have had some pretty lively discussions that way but it does lack the multiple viewpoints ( ... )

Hi pglimour - sorry for an even later response. I'm playing catch up after a long weekend away. Thanks so much for your kind comments - I put a lot into my old BrBa meta posts and my BSG fandoming too. Good to know my efforts were appreciated and are still remembered fondly. Thanks! I'm pleased to have chatted to you too.

PS, You can ask for book recs anytime :)
