4 years after I first went to college, I have 2 years of credit that is largely useless to me, and am now in an associates degree program for nursing that's going to earn me more than a BA or BS ever would, teach me more practical skills, and will take half the time and something like 1/3 of the money a BA would've. the only classes I learned anything at all in were mostly taught by professors who used paperback books available in any bookstore, and movies you could rent. it wasn't at all uncommon for me to have professors mispronouncing words or flat out getting whole concepts wrong in the subjects they were teaching. I've ended up providing supplemental materials for classes I was in...and I did not complete the 10th grade.
