For those who have delivered at hospitals: could you tell me roughly what your total bill was if you remember? My last two were covered 100% by medicaid so I have no idea ( Read more... )

Ariana was over 12,000. Nick was 8,000 some but we had already hit our co-insurance limit due to my complicated pregnancy so it was completely covered. Parker's was 7500 some with the same issues as Nick again because of my complications.

I can't imagine a birthing center to cost more. What insurance do you have? I had to dig but was able to find typical delivery comprehensive costs for our hospital under the anthem website (but you have to be a member to get to this page)

If you tell me your zip that you'd deliver in then I can find the estimate they have for hospital cost.

It'd be Carolina Medical Center
1000 Blythe Blvd. Charlotte NC 28203

On their website I found a number that asks about pricing but they said I have to have "code" from my doctor for them to be able to tell me. They said I can call my dr. to get it but just haven't done it yet.

Let me know if you find anything!

I can't help ya with specifics for First Health cuz it's just my insurance provider's site i'm lookin at (but it doesn't calculate in the benefits so if yours would be less/more it wouldn't be affected)

For the c-section and a two-night stay:

$18,511. But the insurance company paid like $6587 and I'm being billed $210 even though my copay was only $100. Waiting for proof I owe the other $110.

For my son including prenatal care and everything else the two nights i was there ran around 21,000.... my insurance covered most... except for a co-pay, but i did get a print out itemized bill because i wanted to know what it cost... it does very a lot... and I know that florida is on the more expensive side... i would just call the hospital... im sure they would give you a good idea of what it is going to be costing..

I found this
Average, not c-section birth costs USA $16,000. C-section $25,000, 32 week preemie with 30 days in the NICU $180,000 (average $5,000 a day).
