yes, not sure how often. it's close to the mountains if you need a snow fix though. :) i've only been here for a month and a half. i can't tell you much about the weather other than that summers are gorgeous.

it's more expensive than philadelphia, but then again, you've been living in NY anything is going to seem cheap in comparison.

Washington, DC! The Metro subway is great, and it affords you the oppourtunity to live in the county (i.e.fulfilling your nature requirement) but still get to the city with no trouble. Also it's close enough to NY that you can visit, but far enough that you won't feel obligated to go frequently.

I live in the county, but I grew up in Baltimore and I love the District.

Boston, Seattle (although not much snow), states to look in: Michigan, Virginia, N Carolina, Conneticut. Chicago is, of course, also a great city. There's also those northern Cali cities and Portland, OR.
Ah, I want to move west... Oh, I also heard Pittsburgh is a cool city...

i gotta get in a vote for minneapolis here.

awesome bike culture, great bus service (not compared to new york, but for a smaller metro area it's top notch), four very distinct seasons (winter's a little long but spring and fall make it all worth it), tons of beautiful lakes and trails and trees, plenty of queers, cool places to volunteer and work, block to block diversity, cheap as fuck rent, and REAL LIVE LUTHERANS. need i say more?
