I appreciate the offer, but I think I've got this one handled. Although I hear you do an amazing job of smashing old dressers. ;)
I've plastered up a section of wall from baseboard to ceiling. So it's approx 10' high and 2' wide. (Thanks for the ladder loan bellaantimatter) Now that everything is almost finished and ready to be primed, I'm almost tempted to check if other areas need to be stripped and plastered over. Almost tempted...
when we removed the rad in the kitchen we found the wall behind basically crumbling off. obviously i couldn't just paint over it, so i looked up online how to plaster. it's not too difficult, the trick is to go really slow and build up the layers. in between each layer score the plaster in a criss-cross pattern. this helps the next layer adhere. to make sure it grabs the plaster around the hole, work the plaster in under the plaster around it. i found the hardest part was getting the top layer smooth as none of the existing plater wall around it was!
if you've already filled the hole, oh well, good info for next time :)
it would kill my vacuum if i ever tried to suck up that much dust with it, so i've always just swept and waited out the dust :/
Fortunately, I have a lot of experience in filling up holes in walls. My dad taught me how when I was 12 and wanted to paint my room. It made me far less likely to hang pictures up with tacks, let me tell you. :P
Sadly, it looks like the motor in my vacuum may be blown. I'm hoping to get it fixed though. My vacuum is a fairly old model that my parents picked up back when I was just a toddler. So there's a good chance it was just coincidence that it died while I was in the midst of this particular project. After all, it held strong all through the 3 months I spent stripping my living room window. I really hope I can get it fixed. It's a powerful little machine.
Oh, how do you move a radiator? I love that you laid down new linoleum in your kitchen, and would really like to do the same in mine as it's all hard wood, and a pain to clean when things get spilled.
