Elaine got up from her seat, out of the Firehouse and walked to Lux. There was no hurry in her steps, only a controlled cadence. The damage to the structure was minimal. She did consider putting up an extra ward around it, just in case. But she knew she would just get flak from him if she even tried to.
She stood in front of the doorway, her teeth biting into her lower lip, hands in her dress pockets. She waited.]

She had felt him leave, but only now as the rubble and ruin of the city was cleared away did she go to examine the chasm in his place. To wait, or to realise that there was nothing to wait for, yet again.
The winged horse may have been a gift from gods she did not recognise, but it sped her crossing of the city and stood without a tether after her dismount. Elaine stood within sight, a brushstroke of black marked out beside the doorway, looking small and young, every inch the desperate child he had found her.]

This time, there was this feeling of finality. That he would finally have his way of severing any and all ties.

Not warded against us. [She marked the girl's reticence more than her want of physical comfort. Mazikeen had never longed for anyone's touch but his and would seldom pull another close unless looking for a better angle with which to strike them.
So she stepped away from Elaine, taking the more natural response, and kicking aside the debris that blocked the bar's entrance. Inside was dark, and everything broken. Almost everthing.]
