On most PBX systems, the star key [*] will take you back a step. If you get all the way back to the main menu and press [0], you normally get an operator who has nothing to do with anything. However, if you let her know how frustrated you are, she'll usually make sure you talk to a live person. This is all assuming that they just installed a PBX and left it alone. If they actually know what they're doing, they probably changed it.
