First of all, judging solely from this LJ entry, you are an *incredibly* talented writer.
Secondly, there is a book called The Artist's Way, about recapturing your lost creativity. I recommend it. The first exercise is to write three pages of stream-of-consciousness every day. Then you put them away so NO ONE can see them, even yourself. As you've noted, the biggest obstacle here is learning how to get rid of your inner critic.
I wholeheartedly respect the rather succinct, pessimistic opinions of the anonymous. However, what leads you to believe that this is impossible? Have you anything to substantiate your claim?
"I've not written for the sake of writing in a very long time. It's funny... periodically I'll write about how seldom I've been writing and how much I would like to (and perhaps in a few months I will ramble on about how I write entries that are aware of previous entries that are aware of other future entries, forming an infinite chain of self-awareness not unlike reflecting a mirror with a mirror), but I've never actually acted on it."
Thats called "Meta." As in Metatheater or Metaphilosophy. An acute awareness of its own self, almost like breaking the 4th wall.

I'll look into buying the book, perhaps over spring break. Thanks for your help. It's much appreciated.
