General

Name: Fin Fish
Age: N/A. She looks like she's in her late teens to very early twenties.
Canon Point: Chapter 28 right after her confession
Languages Known: All Earthly languages. This includes ancient and modern.
Height/Weight: Juntenshi; 16 cm, 120 grams, Datenshi; Under 6'0", N/A

In Fin's Datenshi form she has her banishment tattoo on her right thigh, and long hair. In her Juntenshi form she has short hair and no said tattoo.

Personality: Fin is like a layer cake. No matter how many layers there are that cake is still sweet, still warm, and still the feel good food it is... even if the icing is tainted black.

Actually, metaphors aside, Fin has tried hard to not show how much she has truly cared about certain people considering her circumstances. Fin wasn't, nay, isn't technically supposed to care about anyone except for Maou. She's only supposed to act like it; she's supposed to play the part of being the nice motherly/best friend figure and then tear it down.

But see how that worked out.

While Fin has that mask of being 'evil' there's one big problem: she really is a nice person and does care. All that time when she was a "juntenshi" (and I say Juntenshi for when she was with Maron) those feelings and 'acts' she did weren't false. The fact she was so clingy to Maron, haughty to Chiaki, mixed about Access (and oh, Access, that's a whole barrel of snakes all by itself), and generally nice to Zen and the others weren't ever a ruse in the slightest as much as she'd love it to be. She's a passionate person and she wears her emotions on her sleeve even if she's not supposed to. You see this when that so called mask is cracked with the more strained expressions after her betrayal and then the added third person during her confession, the same third person dialogue which she used when she was with Maron. Oh yes, not all of that small cutesy flaily juntenshi act was a farce.

With that, Fin is a rather complicated individual due her circumstances and it's epitomized in the scenes of right after she betrays Maron and after she confesses everything. Fin is someone who tries whole heartedly to believe in something and give her all as much as it might hurt her. She prays in the moonlight saying that all she needs is Maou. She's no longer the pure, cutesy angel from long ago as much as anyone, even her, would love to have again. She really is a fallen angel. She has killed humans (albeit accidentally) and had to choose between destruction or a continued life. She's had to make a not really fair decision and had to have a life in Hell. Maou was the one who saved her then and was the only one who cared for her during that time. As for the demons... well... Fin was still from Heaven. Their added hate of her not belonging there made Fin toughen up and grow a more bitter and stronger attitude. Just look at her relationship with Noin and you can just feel the tangible hate they have for each other despite both being 'servants of evil' and the bickering of who's on the top of the food chain.

Still she really is an angel at heart. Fin is jaded about being evil and is constantly torn on what to do and she is a loyal person to a fault. She's used to being an emotional crutch to those she cares about. Maron, Celcia, Toki, Access. It's her secrets and her worries come last and theirs first and foremost. However, to those she trusts the person with her life even then it'd take a lot to spill all her secrets. It's more due to knowing she'd hurt them with that information. And it takes her to the point where she won't say anything until she has to. Be it that she believes they deserve to hear it before she dies or she feels just too. damn. guilty.

History

(Beware of tl;dr)

In the beginning of her canon, Fin Fish is a trainee angel (Juntenshi). Her mission, as she says, is to be the protector and guide for Kusakabe Maron, the reincarnation of Jeanne D'Arc (Joan of Arc). As her guide she is there to help her seal demons sent by the Devil (Maou) whom possess works of art. Now usually one would think that you're hallucinating an angel the size of your hand considering no one else can see her, or that this tiny angel is actually a fairy, but this was very true for the brunette. Fin proceeds to help Maron by finding the demons, giving her moral support ('GO GO GO MARON!'), sending capture notices, giving her the means of transformation into a Kaitou (Magical thief) via her rosary, and collecting the chess pieces that the sealed demons turn into. That's not even going into her helping her trying to acquire them either. All in all, it seems like the whole Luna/Sailor Moon partnership with Fin being who she is and Maron being 'Kaitou Jeanne'.

Fin does set herself to be Maron's surrogate mother as well. As Maron's parents have barely been in her life (literally speaking they left her all alone in an apartment and don't even write to her) this was a very welcome addition for her. So Fin cooked, cleaned, yelled at other people even when they couldn't see her, and was always around her 'daughter' no matter what circumstance if she could help it. The two grow very close and like the mother figure she was she also was very protective of Maron. This came to a peak when Nagoya Chiaki and Access Time appear. When Chiaki makes his entrance after an unsuccessful sealing of a demon in guise of 'Kaitou Sinbad' Fin explains that he and Access are missionaries of the Devil. As confusing as it is to have the Devil's advocates sealing their own demons, she explains that they must be sealing up those who have already eaten the innocent hearts to increase the Devil's power. This starts the rivalry between the two angel/kaitou pairs throughout the series.

Still, Fin cannot stop fate. Chiaki and Maron end up becoming more than just rivals as time goes on. Even when Maron finds out Chiaki is Sinbad, even when their relationship was tried by Demon Knight Noin, and even when she found out that he was getting closer to her at first to make her stop being a Kaitou, that doesn't stop their growing relationship. This is much to Fin's changrin whilst she continued to avoid and yell at Access at any time she sets her eyes on the black-winged angel (kurotenshi)... and that is frequent considering the two are apartment neighbors. The only instance of her acting differently towards either one of them would be when Access (whom, by this time you can tell he's been head over heels for the green haired juntenshi for forever) had an incident with the Saint Lovers' Flower he was growing. Fin however doesn't recount any of it -- and she hasn't been told about any of it -- except for the fact that it was her who ate the flower in a fit of jealousy over Chiaki seducing Maron. Fin-mama couldn't have him force feed him the flower now, could she? But if it's for Maron's happiness, Fin will do what she can. She continues to semi-tolerate the fact that Chiaki and Maron love each other, if only a little. It's also obvious she doesn't explicitly hate the two men or else there would have been more repurcussions than a 'Fin Beam' nor a nice gesture or replacing that flower she ate.

Everything was all a farce though.

One good day Chiaki had broke the news to Maron that Fin was actually the Devil's missionary. It was an unwelcome 'lie' and Maron didn't take well to it. She runs home with Chiaki in prsuit, and once there he doesn't hold back to fling his rosary at the tiny angel.

Now, over the series you would have figured Fin isn't powerless, but she isn't quite powerful either. Instead of what would have been a crash midair, Fin repels the projectile easily. She then drops her happy-go-lucky facade and transforms into her real form, Fallen Angel (Datenshi) Fin. Purposely, the newly transformed Fin proceeds to break Maron's heart by explaining that everything she had done was a plot from the Devil himself. Fin had never cared about Maron and Maron had helped the Devil. Access and Chiaki were never the Devil's advocates. They were. In her spiel she also informs Maron’s own existence caused her parents strife. Because she was the reincarnation of Jeanne D'arc the Devil had demons possess her parents. It's the straw that breaks the camel's back and Fin leaves her used-to-be surrogate daughter screaming after her.

She runs into Noin (whom they fought "against" in Maron and hers time together) not even moments later whom mocks her over the fact she is a Fallen Angel and that she 'stinks'. Fin then prays with the words that the Devil is the only one who cares and loves her, and she indeed not that long after run into the arms of the Devil.

It's at this point in canon we find out Fin's real history by Access.

Fin was once one of the best angels in Heaven and in fact, not much unlike her earlier attitude when she worked with Maron if not a bit nicer.

Being just promoted to a trainee angel, and one of the best, she was one of the few chosen to go to Earth. The other two selected were her friends Celcia and Toki. Access, who was also one of her friends, because he was not chosen and still a black-winged angel would only be left behind. He nevertheless wished them all luck, except for Fin. He begged Fin instead to listen to him when she came back from Earth because there was something important to tell her. At first the then bright and cheery girl teased him, saying that 'maaaaybe' she'd listen, but she did agree. On her departure, Access watches the three go off for the last time.

Back then the three's duty on Earth was simple. All they had to do was gather energy from the sun and to stay out of trouble. Easy, right? Well everything was going fine until Toki had hurried to Fin in a panic, blubbering that Celcia had been kidnapped by a Human. The two of them rush to the human to save her. Celcia had indeed been picked up by a human by the name of Sagami and he was a priest of a local shrine, but it wasn't for what greedy reasons the other two angels thought. While both Toki and Fin retailiated to try and get their friend back Sagami explained that he had just found Celcia unconscious. Celcia sheepishly explained she wasn't used to the atmosphere on Earth yet and vouches for Sagami after the two's fighting. All is well and the three end up hanging about Sagami albeit the rules state they shouldn't. Fin grows amazed by how generous and sweet Sagami is. Sagami ran a shrine that had holy water that could heal almost everything, including the bite that Toki and her inflicted, and he wasn't greedy with it. He used it constantly for the elderly and those who were ill. That awe seems to become a slight infatuation or so seems to to Toki. Toki warns her that something isn't right several times but Fin merely ignores him.

It was during one of those warnings, however, that Fin couldn’t ignore him. As Toki had a crush on her he presses her too much to choose him instead of Sagami. She flies away and into a nearby cave. In an unexpected rock slide she ends up trapped and injured. Wandering further into the cave Fin finds a young girl encased in ice slowly melting away. It is the life of the pure girl that makes the holy water and keeps it from melting too quick. That girl was also Fin’s previous human life, Natsuki. All of her memories as Natsuki returned to Fin and reveal, among many other things, that Sagami was her older brother. Sagami enters bemused by Fin and the fact that she has remembered everything. He then explains why Fin's hair is green instead of the blond or white color other angels have. It is because her power stored in it it is beyond the regular power of those angels. It is that hair that he wants and he shows that no one will help her -- Toki and Celcia are already trapped within ice.

Sagami then captures the small Fin and while she screams and cries for help for anyone, he cuts her hair. Access watches all of this with the head angel Ruri back in Heaven unable to do anything, crushed. Because of her hair being cut then Fin can't control a surge of power and she ends up killing hundreds of humans in the backlash including Sagami.

Even if it was an accident, it's a cardinal sin to kill humans. As such she is sentenced to be sent into 'exile' and cross the Gate of Destruction. Stopping at the gate, the Devil offers Fin her life in exchange to work for him.

She agrees.

After the flashback. The now evil Fin proceeds to cause Maron's life hell. This includes offering to work with her for the Devil, tossing her rosary out the window and making Maron leap to her 'death' (and being slapped by Silk because of Noin’s attraction to Maron/Jeanne still), possessing Maron's friend Miyako with a demon, and making Chiaki 'disappear'. Overall she was being pretty much a manipulative evil bitch. Maron, however, is learning that Fin isn't as evil as she is acting. In fact, they learn it the hard way when Access (now a full angel (Seitenshi) by an act of God and having freed Toki and Celcia from their icy prison) yells at Fin for her betrayal.

In the heat of the moment, Fin summons a sword and attacks Access. When everyone thought she was going to actually stab him, she merely tackles him down and sinks the sword beside his head.

She cries and explains that she became a fallen angel for him. Fin had chosen to live to see him once again because he had said that he wanted to tell her something important. Not only was there that, but Fin had also wanted to say something to him. What was that? "I love you". Having betrayed the Devil by letting her heart be true to her feelings, she then decides to go through with her sentence and destroy herself. Access, Celcia, and Toki give up their power for Fin and try to stop it. After a heart wrenching moment of whether or not she could repent from being a fallen angel, Fin finally turns into a Seitenshi with Access, Celcia, and Toki all turning into small black-winged angels.

With the world crumbling due to God's loss of power (due to the fact that he helped save Fin too), all of them are transported to heaven. Chiaki is still nowhere to be seen until The Devil appears - in the form of a painting no less - to make a bargain with Maron. He will give Chiaki back as long as she duels him tomorrow. She agrees and he disappears giving Chiaki back and leaving stinging words towards Fin on her siding with them. The night is full of apprehension as they all find out that Maron's first reincarnation was not Jeanne D'Arc but Eve. God had fallen in love with Eve a long time ago and gave her the gift of reincarnation, and his negative emotions of jealousy (of Adam) loneliness and hatred were cast off to create Maou. Fin and Access, and Maron and Chiaki spend their nights together. The two angels share a romantic kiss and embrace and Fin stares wistfully to nowhere afterward

Everyone is at the duel where Maron duels an old version of herself. She indeed wins the duel but as the Devil is being destroyed he lunges at Maron in one last attempt. Fin rushes in front of Maron to protect her, but also forfeits her life.

In the last moments of her life she explains that, albeit loving Access, she also loves the devil and doesn't wish him to die alone. He had been alone the whole time. The devil is moved by these words and thanks her as they both die.

Still, there was still hope. Maron being the human girl gifted by God with reincarnation, could give it up to Fin. She does and Access bawls (a bit over dramatically) that he'll work hard to be reincarnated too, leaving one of his earrings in her hand. Chiaki and Maron go home back to earth and Maron is reunited with her best friend and parents.

Cut to ten years later. Access is reincarnated as Shinji, the son of Maron and Chiaki's friends. He still has his memories as an angel too. Maron comes home after giving birth to a daughter who turns out to be Fin reincarnated, Natsuki, who has Access' earring.

Angel Hierarchy//Terms -
  • Each angel is born as a Kurotenshi (Black Angel), an angel with black wings. They have to earn white wings to become a Juntenshi.
  • A Juntenshi (Trainee Angel) is an angel in training. They need to do a lot of good deeds and store power to earn a higher rank.
  • A Seitenshi (Regular angel) is a full fledged angel. They do not have any jewels on their foreheads and have a halo.
  • A Datenshi (Banished/Fallen angel) is an angel banished from ever coming back to the heavens. They have a tattoo upon them that states as such. Fin has it on her thigh in her real form. A Datenshi cannot be touched by any other angel or else the other angel will be drained of their power.
  • Maou is the japanese term for The Devil; In KKJ he is actually the purged negative emotions of God who had fell in love with Eve, the first incarnation of Jeanne D'Arc/Maron
  • Kami is the japanese term for God
  • 'Checkmate' in canon is the way to seal demons. This is by sending a white (or black in Sinbad's case) pin to the possessed item and then seal into a chess piece.
