After I'd finished my last tournament of the night, waving a fond farewell to the tired yankies who had all but handed me their money (especially the guy who every time he lost a hand just typed 'JERK!' into the chat window, he needed a nap big style) and feeling all smug because of the winning and everything, I thought I would take a little looky and see what the insomniac yanks play at 06:30ET.
Everyone was on the cash tables but there was one tournament that was attracting a few red-eyed players and I could see why, it was a $4000 guaranteed tournament! Wowee! At this time of the morning? What a bargain, pay $33 to get a crack at $1000 top prize with only 100 other competitors?
That's when I saw why it was such a good deal, it was limit poker! Euuurgh!
For those who don't know Limit poker only allows you to raise by the big blind and only four raises per round. So if the Big Blind was 40 then it could only be raised to 80, then to 120 and then finally to 160.
They all start with 3000 chips and it's an HOUR before the big blind is 100. That's an HOUR before you can even get the bet up to 400 chips. In a No Limit game, we usually lose 1 moron on the first hand and then it's about 100 morons per 15 minutes. So far they've been playing 14 minutes and they haven't lost a single player although there's one guy on one table who is religiously raising everything and he's down to 800 chips or so. I think because he's realised he's in a limit game and he really wants to go to bed before next year.
Yup, there he goes, he was dangerously close to winning that last one which would have put him at 3000 chips again, now that would have been funny as fuck.
Ah well, I'm off to bed now, to snooze my snoozes.
