#01 - Ring

Her heart beats fast and loud as she dials his number, calming when he picks up on the first ring; she knows she can always rely on him.

#02 - Hero

“You’re totally my hero,” she says to him, and even though he’s sitting in a jail cell with bloody clothes and a blinding headache, trying to take everything in, one smile from her makes him feels like one.

#03 - Memory

He may not remember anything about who he is, but when the wounds Caitlin is cleaning up heal, he gets a flash of blond hair and green eyes and he knows instinctively that he needs to get back to her.

#04 - Box

Whatever’s in this box, he hopes it’ll lead him to the girl that haunts his dreams, crying out for him to come back and save her.

#05 - Run

They talk about running away together, starting a new life on their own, but she knows it will never happen; family matters too much to the both of them.

#06 - Hurricane

He whirls in and out of her life like a hurricane, never really stopping to talk - she hopes one day saving the world won’t be his only priority.

#07 - Wings

She jumps off the building and falls, alone, feeling as broken without him as a bird’s wing, even when the wounds heal.

#08 - Cold

Even as he feels the cold metal of the gun against his temple, hears thoughts of hatred running through her head, he knows he’ll go back in an instant to change it all for her.

#09 - Red

She cuts herself and watches the blood run red and heal instantly, reminding her both of her immortality and the curse that dooms their love.

#10 - Drink

It’s a pity neither of them can get drunk, he thinks, as their lips crash together and their bodies meld into one, at least then they’d have a feasible excuse in the morning.

#11 - Midnight

As soon as the clock strikes midnight, there’s a knock on her window, and she smiles as she lets him in with a giggle, wondering how her fathers would react if they found them like this.

#12 - Temptation

He squeezes his eyes shut and tries to forget the small expanse of skin he’d seen when her shirt rode up slightly, or the tingle of his hand as their fingers brushed - he wishes she’d stop being such a damn temptation.

#13 - View

The roof of the Deveaux building is a place that only sees destruction, where the city still burns from a future they couldn’t change, but as he confesses his feelings to her, their fingers linking together, she can’t think of a better view.

#14 - Music

It’s another Petrelli social event and they’ve snuck off into a darkened room, holding each other too closely to be deemed appropriate, dancing to music no-one else can hear - it’s the only time they can.

#15 - Silk

He doesn’t know, but he imagines her hair would feel like silk beneath his fingers, smooth and golden; he has to resist the urge to touch it when she’s near, a difficult task when she’s always so close to him.

#16 - Cover

They pick their cover stories carefully: he has to take the night shift at work for a friend, she’s going to a sorority slumber party; their friends may raise eyebrows, but they never ask - they’d never guess, anyway.

#17 - Promise

The night that the hero saved the cheerleader, an unspoken promise was made: always be there for each other, always save each other - it’s never been broken.

#18 - Dream

He dreams of her so much these days, he’s not sure whether they’re just dreams or prophecy; part of him doesn’t want to find out.

#19 - Candle

She’s like the candle that doesn’t burn out, the one light in his life and he knows, no matter what happens or how their family betrays them, she’ll remain his constant.

#20 - Talent

Sylar calls it her ‘talent’, the ability she holds, she calls herself a freak; but when Peter uses it, it ties him to her, becoming the gift of life, and she hopes it stays that way.

#21 - Silence

As time goes by and the centuries fade into one, they find they lose their need to talk, but it doesn’t matter as long as they’re together.

#22 - Journey

He doesn’t know when their journey will end, if they’ll give up being heroes or running or fighting, but as long as their lives intertwine, he could carry on forever.

#23 - Fire

Their lips meet for the first time, hesitantly, almost guiltily, and he knows he’d walk through a thousand fiery hells just to relive this moment again and again.

#24 - Strength

She has strength of character that’s unnerving for someone her age; he supposes she takes after his mother like that, and then hates himself for remembering they’re related.

#25 - Mask

They both have their disguises, their masks that they wear around everyone; it’s only when they are together that the pretence slips.

#26 - Ice

She doesn’t remember when her heart turned to ice; it could have been when she dyed her hair, first killed a man - or it could be when her hero became the enemy.

#27 - Fall

Claude pushes him and suddenly, he’s falling through the air, a sad little smile and green eyes the last thing on his mind before he hits the ground.

#28  - Forgotten

When she starts college, he’s not there to see her off, he’s not there to find out her roommate was murdered, or that she kissed a girl; in his world, she’s been forgotten, his voice on the answer machine the only contact she has as she leaves her latest message.

#29 - Dance

Their love is like a dance across the ages, flitting in and out of each other’s lives, but always finishing up at the same point.

#30 - Body

Her body is still in the Oval Office when Peter finds it, exactly where Sylar said she’d be, and as he cradles her, he makes a vow to kill the son-of-a-bitch, even if it takes him an eternity.

#31 - Sacred

Of all his abilities, it’s hers that he holds most sacred; not only does it give him life, causes him to heal, it reminds him of her, ties their lives together even if they are on opposite sides.

#32 - Farewells

It seems like all they do is say goodbye; Claire wishes for once that he would just stay and talk, instead of running out on her again.

#33 - World

“Save the cheerleader, save the world,” he was once told; now the world is in ruins, but he’ll keep saving the cheerleader - it’s the only thing left he’s capable of doing.

#34 - Formal

Peter’s idea of formal attire amuses her to no end, but what amuses her more is the expression on Nathan’s face as he staggers drunkenly into the room and finds them locked in a passionate embrace at the end of the evening.

#35 - Fever

Her temperature’s rising, her hands are clammy, her head is spinning; Claire Bennet is adamant she has a fever - it doesn’t matter than she can’t get sick, and it’s nothing to do with Peter smiling at her across the room, either.

#36 - Laugh

Their clothes are bloodied, their bodies healing - technically they just died, but Claire starts to giggle and soon they’re both laughing together; that’s the last time she’s letting Peter drive a motorcycle.

#37 - Lies

He promises her he’ll always be honest with her, and she’s heard this so many times before she’s almost doubtful; but Peter’s never lied to her before, she’s got no reason to think he would now.

#38 - Forever

She used to think they’d have forever - he can do what she can do, how could they not  - but now things have changed, he’s growing older and she’s staying the same, and there’s nothing she can do about it.

#39 - Overwhelmed

He remembers waking up on the concrete, coughing and pushing his limbs back together, and her, the girl he was supposed to save, looking over him with concern; the fact that they both survived is almost overwhelming.

#40 - Whisper

Her thoughts are like whispers in his ear, even when she’s far away; it’s how he always knows when to save her.

#41 - Wait

She’s tired of being told she has to wait, tired of having to wait for hundreds of years, so she takes the bull by the horns and kisses him, not caring what their friends think - three years of waiting is enough.

#42 - Talk

It occurs to her one day that they’ve never really talked when they haven’t had to save the world, so she gets him to take her out to eat somewhere; later, she’d call that their first date.

#43 - Search

He can hear Claire’s thoughts across the barren wasteland where the Carnival once stood, but can’t see her or her father - until he realises she’s buried underneath the ground, and his search is turned into a rescue mission.

#44 - Hope

Peter never quite understands how Claire can keep hope after everything that’s happened to them, but he clings to it as if his life depends on it; he doesn’t know how he’d survive if he didn’t.

#45- Eclipse

In New York, a man jumps off a rooftop because it’s his turn to be someone, in Texas a girl jumps from an oil-rig to prove something to herself - above them the eclipse watches, binding them together in ways they cannot imagine.

#46 - Gravity

He thought his anchor had gone the day Nathan died, but then she turns up, and the pain ebbs a little, he manages to find gravity again.

#47 - Highway

The road trip was Peter’s idea, they both needed to get away from their families for a while; having to stop on the highway because she didn’t know how to read a map ended up being the highlight of their journey.

#48 - Unknown

She jumps from the Ferris wheel towards the awaiting cameras and Peter knows right then and there they’ve stepped into the unknown - this brave, new world that could change both of them forever.

#49 - Lock

Claire remembers a time when she didn’t have to lock her doors at night, when the world was simple, when she wasn’t hunted for what she was - when she hadn’t killed her hero.

#50 - Breathe

As he stands over Nathan’s coffin, the grief overcomes him, but then she’s there with a hand on his shoulder, and it’s like he’s remembered how to breathe.
