Burning Man: The Good, the Bad, and the Dusty

A somewhat inaccurate title as the source of the "bad" was mostly related to the "dusty".

Anyway, I just came back from my first Burning Man and I'd have to say that the experience was a mixed bag. elarbee asked me to sum up my experience in one word, excluding "dusty", and I just couldn't. Instead I will list it out.

The Good

The folks: Lot's of nice people

Somehow your entire post seems to focus on the constant struggle with the physical discomfort and lack of control of your surroundings rather than the actual BM impressions. That's how I felt for about a day when I first got there two years ago, until somebody took the time to explain to me how to look beyond that. krace is right on with all the practical advice -- be nice to your body and it will actually let you have fun with your stay on the playa. My second visit last year, after I figured out how to take care of my eyes and my feet, was a whole different experience. Give it another try!
