I'm almost through the first season and I ain't seen that yet! When! When! When?!?!?!
Seriously though, I really can't figure out why I like it. It's bad sci-fi disguised as not bad sci-fi and it actually turns out to be pretty damn good. I really like the President.
I don't want to spoil for you when it shows up -- so it'll be a nice surprise -- but trust me when I say that it's coming. And it's a really small towel. (Also in your future: Jamie Bamber in a swimming trunks.)
My parents are pretty anti-science-fiction and they love BSG. I think it's because Ronald Moore took what he learned from being the show-runner for the later seasons of DS9 (that you can make politics the forefront of a sf show and make it work) and hit touchstones that will appeal to the general public.
*shrugs* apparenlty i am immune to teh crackzors of BSG cause i can't stand it. the husband-unit loves it though so i have not transferred any antibodies to him as of yet.
