She's too lovely to be near those bags.jen_vmOctober 23 2007, 07:48:58 UTC
The red one's not entirely awful, I guess, but I have a phobic (or maybe it's allergic) reaction to all the bags by all the bag-makers who substitute covering the thing in logos for actual design. I know there's a claim to be made that they're adhering to some notion of 'classic' bag styling. But I refuse to accept it. Brogues are classic. Spectator pumps are classic. Silk neckties with subtle patterns are classic. Putting your brand all over the damn thing is simply insecurity on the part of designer, purchaser or both.
Always reminds me of the time I was walking through a department store china department and overheard a couple discussing their registry "We should get the glasses with the big B," man said to woman. "What's the point of owning Baccarat if no one knows it's Baccarat?" Woman nodded as if this were very sage advice indeed. Guess they were well-matched.

Ah-ha! I didn't know you had an LJ!
Oh, I could care less about the purses. I love the Grace Kelly channel she's doing in the campaign. The photos are stunning.
I've always felt the same way about the LV bags, the brown is boring to me. I guess they can get some credit for apparently being the first "designer logo" but it's been the same thing for over a hundred years.

Because I love you far more dearly than I love being snarky about something no one will ever force me to wear, do, own, or attend to.
