The poblem of people in these states is that they are so closed minded and they believe that whatever religion or whatever they do is whats right. People need to socialize with different cultures in order to actually understand and be less closed minded, but many wont give other people a chance. They prefer to discriminate and be right than to be friendly and understanding, that is the sad truth.

I do agree, but I also wouldn't exclude it to just the European Americans. As someone that values diversity and am interested in learning more about people different than me, I find is very difficult. In my undergraduate and graduate experiences alike, I found that the college campuses had every racial/cultural association you could think of - Asian, Black, Hispanic, Muslim, etc, except white. Anyone that attempted to join these clubs (except the Gay Alliance clubs) that didn't fit the name were shunned, and people of specific races tend to group together. For people like me, it makes it very difficult for me to break in and get to know these other people when they have seemingly put these walls up around them. It's disappointing to me as a white person and makes me feel even more powerless in becoming more knowledgable of other ways of life.

But I do know what you mean. Interestingly enough, my parents and brother are both this way - cannot stand people who are different from them. I find it odd how different I am from them, but I am very thankful for whatever influenced me enough in my life to make me become this way!

That I agree with you. I was recently speaking with my bff about this. She goes to this private university and she said that her school has these special dorms for the international people. My thoughts on this was that maybe these people came to the state to interact with everybody else and by isolating them in these dorms and buildings the school is depriving them of the interaction that these students need and long for by coming to the states to study. I am not just referring one race or one culture you see this behavior by any culture, there are just people that believe if everyone is not like them then it is bad.
Maybe the experiences you have had separate you and thats what makes you different from your parents and brother. The different experiences is wha makes the difference.
