the last of the worst pretenders (1/2) the americans AU. you were supposed to lie to everyone except me. Both involve varying shades of deception, but Keri still thinks there is something horrible about their separation having more ceremony than their wedding. It's Speedman's idea to make it a production because everything has to be strategic and planned to further a move five plays down the line, but at least a tiny part of this farce is their handler punishing them for making choices not rooted in objectivity

Oh my god, WHY aren't you the one writing The Americans??? This is so crazy good I don't even know what to do with myself! EVERYTHING about this! All the lies! All the people that have come to be involved in their lives in one capacity or another (Scott and Connelly and Kate next door and of course Corey AND SPECIAL AGENT BATEMAN; the best thing about RPF AUs is always the random amazing cameos haha).
"Maybe she needs time to cool off," Keri offers as she bangs around the kitchen cabinets for shot glasses. It's precisely the kind of comment she didn't want to hear from Scott when she first told him that she needed a break from her fake husband.
I loved this SO much; I loved not only her relaying the same empty advice that was conveyed her way but that layer of natural duplicity to her! And how that echoes back again when Billy comes to "visit."
Billy takes one step towards her, his foot landing at the edge of her personal space because that's Billy's way with everything - he'll always go just far enough to tempt but never so far
