Dan Rather is stepping down from being a news anchor, however he is going to continue with 60 minutes. 60 Minutes is where he presented the documents that were proved to be false.

Right, the Dan Rather bit was actually sarcasm. I'm still not so sure what your point is though. Yes, Dan Rather will be doing some work with 60 minutes still, he has "stepped down" from his anchor position. Why? Because he has become a negative aspect for CBS. Give it 6 months to possibly a year ... he will be completely done with the station. This is just the first step out of the door, so it's not an instant removal which would completely tarnish his career.
