Women telling men "You don't listen." should not be an allowable basis for an argument. First of all, men aren't even aware they aren't listening, even when they are listening. We can't help it. I just finished reading "Self Made Man" by Norah Jones (she dresses as a man for a year to experience how the "other half" lives) and she touches on this. I don't have the book anymore, but she essentially says that women feel like we're so emotional and above things that if we don't recognise that a man is listening or acting in our perceived "appropriate" way, we automatically disregard it. She says more about it and I wish I could quote it, but it was an interesting way of looking at it that I hadn't thought of before.

Things that are worthwhile often necessitate effort.

Slavery has existed throughout history. It even recently existed. And great minds defended it. Often passionately too. This bit is overkill, but it is what came to mind.
