Of course, the life of a junk yard worker is full of interesting things, tools, contraptions, devices and objets d'art. I recently claimed a rather gorgeous office chair that I'm trying to place a manufacturing date to. The Sikes chair company was established in 1859, and operated until the Depression. That's a freaking gorgeous chair. I wish I had the eye for such beauty. I"d probably see it and before even sitting in it go "how did anyone ever find those things comfortable?"

It's not a curl-up-and-read-a-book chair, but it's more comfortable than any other wooden chair I've ever sat it. I can only imagine what the Sikes rocking chair is like.

nice chair! i'm glad you posted pictures. it's pretty crazy underneath (did you ask the chair's permission before posting pictures of its underside online?).

what do you want for your birthday? besides a handful of sandpaper. i'm thinking hard and not coming up with anything. i mean, you've already got the fire-breathing nun. it's hard to top that.
