[character personality]: Terra can be described generally calm and collected, though he also seems to be a little rough around the edges. His exterior attitude hides a fiercely loyal man who will do anything to protect/help his friends. This loyalty remains even after his possession by Xehanort, evident in the both new Xehanort and what has been called Lingering Sentiment (from KH2: Final Mix.) He has difficulty in resisting the temptation of the sheer strength using darkness yields, though up until the events of Birth by Sleep he does a better job in resisting. This is due in part to his obsession with power in general, something Eraqus knew about and tried to change in him but failed.

Though he seems to be the oldest of the three, he lacks the patience and maturity that Aqua displays. He is unable to control his emotions well when it comes to those he cares about. His decisions are usually quick, and while good intentioned do not always yield good results. As the saying goes, the road to hell is paved with good intentions. Terra’s naivety allows for him to be easily manipulated as well, a trait Xehanort exploits time after time.

[point in timeline you're picking your character from]: Post KH2. He doesn’t know how long he has been drifting, though.

[journal post]:
I’ve had some strange adventures… but I think this place tops them all.

Nothing looks familiar, not even the stars. I thought maybe the beach meant I was in the Destiny Islands… but the scenery is wrong. The kids weren’t there playing either…

Everywhere I go it’s the same answer. I’m somewhere I’ve never heard of, I can’t leave. Make myself comfortable.

What’s with that tick? No one knows that either. Why am I here? Because I was found.

Aqua… Ven… please be all right. I’ll come get you as soon as I find a way out. I will find it.

[third person / log sample 01]:
How long has it been? He wondered as he stared into the darkness surrounding him. There was no up or down, left or right. Direction simply ceased to exist here. A fitting end for him, if he gave into depression. Sometimes he did, but a thought of the charm Aqua had made for him always pulled him out of it. The charm itself was lost somewhere, who knew where, but the magic remained. Simply recalling his friends’ smile would give him peace for hours before he began to torture himself all over again with what ifs.

In what seemed like an eternity but could have been a moment, he suddenly felt like he’d been blinded. There was a pinprick of light in the distance. At first he thought he was imagining it, but then it seemed to get closer. His body, if it was really a body, felt like it was lifting through something. Terra knew that sensation-water. He began to swim slowly, feeling strangely slow as he moved his limbs.

Strength returned the closer he came to that growing light. So did the sensation of swimming. Soon enough he realized he couldn’t breathe. Panicked, he thrashed through the water-up… up. Just when he thought he couldn’t make it, he burst through the surface gasping for air. Destiny Islands? Thought the man as he looked around a little wildly. No… the scenery was too different. The sun was setting; the water glittered with orange tones… and the bottom was just under his feet. How was that possible? He’d just swam so far up…

He shook his head, water flinging from his now flattened hair, and decided the mystery could be solved later. Slowly Terra walked to the beach itself, reveling in the feel of water after so long of nothing. How the wind felt; the sun on his back… all of it was a wonder to him. He didn’t feel a trace of Xehanort, but he also felt like something was missing. He couldn’t quite keep his thoughts from going every direction at once either.

His eyes, an intense sky blue, focused on the buildings in the distance. He would get cold soon, it’d be good to find a place he could get out of these clothes before he got sick. Maybe they would have some answers, too. Terra began walking at a determined pace for the hoped for sanctuary.

[third person / log sample 02]:
The howling winds did little to disguise the groans and cracks of a world being torn apart; they definitely did nothing to hide the screams of his own heart.

Terra watched his home be destroyed blankly. This is my fault… how could I let this happen? He thought to himself. Somehow he had managed to play right into Master Xehanort’s hands-losing everything that he had in the process. Worse, he’d lost Aqua and Ven’s home and master too. He’d lost sight of what was important, instead succumbing to doubt and selfishness. Perhaps it was that thought that snapped him out of the sense of hopelessness, he didn’t stop to second-guess it.

He stood slowly, feeling the effects of his battle with Master Eraqus acutely, and gazed at the charm he’d been given what felt like an eternity ago. Just looking at it always seemed to give him strength. Terra tightened his grip on it. I’ll protect them, whether they want me to or not now-I have to. Whatever it takes. The darkness was in him, there was no denying it now. He’d always known his control was tenuous at best. With a deep breath, he donned his armor and entered the Paths Between. What might happen if he failed to use that armor scared him.

As he sped toward his destination, that barren wasteland, he found his thoughts drifting toward the past. Happier times when all they worried about was training. He’d often thought he and Aqua were perfect partners in training, since they were practically complete opposites. When Ven had come, bringing that almost combination of their abilities and a higher speed, he’d though that maybe he should try learning other ways… but he’d never followed through, not until after this mission had begun.

If he had… would his obsession with power, so rightly identified by his mas-father, have stayed? Terra sighed, causing his visor to steam up a little. Probably… I’ve always wanted to be strong enough to protect everyone… but somewhere along the way I got lost… nothing was ever strong enough for me. The thought bothered him. But even if I hadn’t been that way, I don’t think that would have changed things now very much. After all, Xehanort was determined one way or the other to have his way.

He spied his destination coming closer and shook himself from thoughts of ‘what-ifs.’ None of that mattered now, he couldn’t change the past. What mattered was stopping the crazy old keyblade master, whatever the cost. I will also avenge you, father.

***

Terra had stopped at a crossroads, lined on either side by more keyblades than he could have imagined. The place gave him chills in a way he couldn’t describe. Keyblade masters fighting eachother… it should never have happened. Here it was happening all over again, even if there weren’t so many. Footsteps caught his attention then, and he looked to his right. His heart skipped a beat as he saw Aqua walking toward him with a serious expression.

She knows.

“I was told… the Master was struck down,” her words confirmed his thought. If there was one thing he wasn’t, though, it was a liar. Terra found the words, somehow, to tell her what had happened-why it had happened, and his part in it. He couldn’t look her in the eyes as he spoke. “Yes...that's right. I was stupid and helped Xehanort do it,” Terra tried to ignore her gasp. “The Master--he tried to hurt Ven. I only fought because I wanted to protect him.”

“But I was tricked. Xehanort set the whole thing up--all so he could awaken the darkness inside me,” the words sparked the embers of his rage, despite his best effort to contain it. Terra curled his hand into a fist, and finally met his friend’s eyes. She looked so sad, so disappointed in him, that it smothered that spark a little with his own determined resolve not to break her heart again. “You were right, Aqua--and so was the Master. I did need to be watched. I went astray-but no more.”

Aqua’s expression did not turn as he’d hoped it would. Instead she just looked even more sad. She didn’t seem to be able to look at him, now. “What else is darkness but hate and rage? Xehanort is feeding the dark fires within you--making you fight. You'll go astray again,” she finally looked back up at him. As hard as it was, he forced himself not to break eye contact.

“Tell me--how does that honor our Master's memory, Terra?”

She was right… completely. Terra looked away, eyes falling on another familiar figure. He didn’t know what to say to Aqua, nor would he want to with Ven so close. He didn’t want the blonde to know something else was wrong besides what the kid already knew. At least he knew that here, he could hide how shaken he was. Every time he tried to do the right thing, it seemed to be the wrong path.

“Xehanort wants me and Vanitas to fight, and make some kind of ‘X-blade,’” began his other friend, the boy he thought of as a brother. I can’t let that happen. Ven was too young… he didn’t deserve this. Terra’s anger started to smolder once again. Damn Xehanort.

“But the Master said we can't let that happen...and he tried to destroy me for it,” Ven sounded lost. He frowned, knowing how the other wielder felt. Having to fight someone so close… I’ll end it. Before they have to suffer any more.

“X-blade?” Aqua asked.

“I still don't know exactly what it is. But...it scares me to death. Even just the thought of it,” the blonde still hadn’t looked at either he or Aqua.

Terra stepped toward his friend, putting on his ‘game’ face, and put a hand on his shoulder. “Relax, Ven. We're here and we're gonna take care of you,” he said, hoping he sounded as encouraging as he wanted to. He would take care of Ven, no matter what. Aqua would too. He knew that even before she joined him closer to their young friend.

“I may have to fight Vanitas after all. If I do, guys... I want you to-“ He was not going to let Ven finish that comment. “The three of us can never be torn apart, all right? I'll always find a way,” Terra stated, gripping Ven’s shoulder as a way of emphasizing he would. He smiled inwardly when Aqua put a comforting hand on the blonde’s cheek, though it was squashed when both their hands were pushed away.

“I'm asking you, as a friend... Just...put an end to me.” Ven said. His heart fell. No way could he do that-he would find another way. He would not let Ven or Aqua die. There had been enough pain.

Before he could find the words to tell his friend it wouldn’t happen, he and the others noticed an uninvited guest. Perhaps not so uninvited, since they’d all come here looking for the man, but still unwanted at that moment. Xehanort approached them along with Vanitas, raising Terra’s hackles. He’d wanted to find him alone, so that the other two wouldn’t have to deal with the situation at all anymore. So he could find them afterwards and tell them everything was okay again, or as okay as it could be.

“Behold... These lifeless keys used to be full of power--united with the hearts of their masters. On this barren soil, Keyblades of light and darkness were locked in combat...as a great Keyblade War raged. Countless Keyblade wielders gave up their lives, all in search of one, ultimate key. And it will soon belong to me...” Terra ground his teeth as the golden eyed man spoke, and tensed when a single gloved finger pointed toward Ven. “χ-blade!”

He’d had enough of the old man, his speeches, manipulation… his destruction. Only a moment later he was in armor, vaguely aware his friends had shifted into theirs as well. Hs anger was running dangerously high, Terra knew, but he didn’t have time to stop. He pushed Ven back to keep him from attacking and charged toward the man, putting all his power into reaching him as fast as he could. I will end this!

Other (Appearance):
Tall, dark, and handsome. Well, almost dark-maybe somewhere in between. Terra keeps his body in good shape, making him extremely cut. He’s somewhere around 6’1” tall, with the intense sky blue eyes that seem to be somewhat common in the Kingdom Hearts universe. They stand out even more due to his skin, which is on the darker side of pale. His face is framed by haphazard, razor cut hair, with spikes on the top of his head to keep his chocolate brown hair out of his eyes.

For clothes, Terra prefers two skintight shirts. The undershirt is a pure black, peeking out through intentional holes in the outer shirt that is lighter, more grey, than the under. Two red straps criss-cross on his front and back, and hook into his pants to keep them up. (Cosplayer experience.) His pants border on ridiculous, being a bastardized version of Japanese hakama. The waistband is a slate grey-blue, with buttons that are never fastened and a black belt that ties to which he has fastened his golden badge. The rest of the pants are tan, with a lighter tan edging on the bottom. A seam runs just under his crotch and all the way around the legs, and of course he has pockets.

The only real armor he wears typically is on one arm (the other has a wide leather wristband) in shades of red, gold, and black. That same arm, his left, also had two sets of near fingerless gloves. (One black, one dark grey-echoing his shirts.) For shoes, he wears heavy black boots that are reminiscent of his armor, with some armor around his ankles.

Terra’s full armor looks simply like a bodysuit, with geometric orange-gold piping along it. The metal, in shades of gold, red, and black, attaches over it (not that he has to worry about attaching it since all he has to do is touch the armor on his upper arm to change into it.) Typically he also wears a helm, complete with a one-way visor (he can see out, no one can see in) on it. It also has a cloak attached to it, though that seems to be optional depending on his mood. (OOC note: It was removed from BBS game animation due to lag issues.) The cloak is a dull gold on the outside, black on the inside, and shares a texture similar to certain kinds of leather. Having one’s armor similar to a bodysuit in leather also allows him to show off his muscles.
