  1. OK, Community is brilliant, but this week's episode reminded me that sometimes this show gets a little too caught up with that brilliance and fails to let me connect with it in any other way.

IA about Community--I like the dorky family thing, I admit, but it does get repetitive. They really should focus on other people, and not just in their side plotlines. Like, let's go behind-the-scenes in someone else's life, kinda.

Jim and Dwight ARE like annoying brothers! OMG, so cute. :D And I love seeing Michael be legitimately awesome once in a while--it's impressive, and it makes it slightly more believable that he's still in charge. I so do love Mindy. I want her career.

Loved MF, so much. The Dunphys are all amazing in their own insane ways--chicken pot pie? REALLY? That kid is very easily pleased. And Phil clearly thought it was an awesome choice. HEH.

That'd be nice! I just really think they should find some new material, though. basically.

Jim and Dwight's dynamic has always been like the boys I used to know when I was ten, hehe, but this episode brought it out even more, and I loved it. And yes, I love those moments of Michael's competency, because that is how he's stayed doing what he's been doing for so long!

Phil and Luke's bro-thing is so fantastic. They're so dorky! I love them.

...its attempts at emotional growth or character development are pretty lame, and pretty freaking repetitive.
I call this The Scrubs Effect. :\ Every episode of Scrubs ended the EXACT same way, and the characters would go back to square one at the beginning of the subsequent episode. I completely agree with you when it comes to Community. I've ignored it because so much else on the show makes me laugh that it used to not matter, but into its second season with the threat of almost immediate cancellation, the writers need to change their M.O.

Oh, man, you're right! I don't know why it didn't bother me as much in Scrubs, though - maybe because with the practice of medicine, I feel like people are going to face the same issues again, and often? - am I making the right choice, how do I tell her/him about this, do I really know anything? Or maybe it's because there are lessons to be learnt that make a lot more sense in a hospital, where you literally come in contact with life and death everyday. (Or maybe I'm just biased. Oops!)

There's nothing like that in Community, though, and it's frustrating. It's not just that it's in its second season and that doing as they've been doing hasn't necessarily been producing great results (although the fans I've seen for this show are ridiculously passionate and loyal) - I think it's affecting the naturalness and tone of the show as a whole, although that's probably because I noticed it and decided to start being annoyed by it. :P ( ... )

I loved The Office as well! It really was ridiculous, but there was heart. There's been a lot of that recently. <3

The Dunphys are my favorite family as well!! They have such a wonderful dynamic. <3

There has!! I'm so excited. I'm loving this season.

The Dunphys' dynamic is ridiculously close to mine, which may be why I love them so much.

This week's The Office is an episode that I found funnier on a second viewing. At first I was like, "What the hell is going on this is ridiculous." But I grew to appreciate all of the really, really funny bits and they great character interactions (like Jim and Dwight!). Also Timothy Olyphant and his creepy-hot eyes can stay, thanks.

I hadn't thought about the repetiveness of Community, but I think you're exactly right. They need to find a new source of drama besides someone (mainly Jeff) realizing how much they care about the rest of the group.

I know! It really was completely ridiculous, and it didn't even pretend to try to be believable, but on its own, it's really, really funny episode. Jim and Dwight's interactions were my favourite - I love their bickering-brothers thing.
