I think it's that political beliefs are more easily categorized as "chosen" by the person holding them, whereas a certain bodily state is not necessarily so. Extreme body states like anorexia or morbid obesity usually have to do with active behaviors of the persons with those body types, but everything in between is pretty damn hard for an outsider to suss out. Therefore, I could judge someone at 200 lbs for not caring for themselves/being a slob/whatever fat-phobic logic is in these days, but the truth of the matter is that person may have a medical condition I don't know about, or they may be on antipsychotic medications that cause massive weight gain (this one is particularly brutal, i think: you have to give up the body you know and love in order to be healthy and sane), etc.

I'd say it's a simple Wittgensteinian argument: whereof we cannot speak, thereof we should be silent.
