Vacuum recs?

I have a Sharp upright vacuum that I purchased... huh, I guess going on five years ago now. It was supposed to be top of the line, highest recommended, best buy yadda yadda, and frankly it's driven me nuts for years. Which is esp annoying considering how much I paid for it

Certainly slow on the uptake here, and I'm sure you've fixed your problem by now, but I just use a cheap smaller sized shop vac with a floor attachment. You can't kill the things... I did this after my new bissell went spastic and burned a hole in the new rug... It's been 3 years and I haven't had a problem with the shop vac at all.
