Almost every store that sells furniture is likely to sell headboards, from J.C. Penney to Pottery Barn. I don't know how much you want to spend, but you've got lots of options. A simple net search on 'make headboard' brought up hundreds of sites for me, so you might look around and see what kind of headboard you want and if you'd rather buy it or make it. :)
you might want to check dyi.com. A lot of the decorating shows do headboards by taking a piece of plywood, covering it with batting and cloth and then attaching that to the wall. I've seen some shows paint the headboard area behind the bed to give the illusion of a headboard.
Or if you don't want to make your own, check local upholstery shops. They can make you a headboard with your choice of fabric (I had a cushion-y leather one made).
