When SS was established.  "Normal Retirement Age" was 65.   Now, If I retire before age 67, I take a 50 percent monthly cut in SS benefits.

that is LAAAAME.

Wasn't the average life span considerably shorter back then though?

I'm not saying I WANT to work that long ... it's just that nowadays even with late retirement you could have another 20 years to kick around doin' nothin'.

yeah, alright, I guess. I just imagine it feeling like when you are running the half marathon (which I dpon't really recommend), and you think you are closer to the finish line than you are, and suddenly realize, you have been reading the Kilometer markers as miles.
