I'm with you on the liking, not loving the books. I reread the first one and found it more engaging the second time round; I hope the same is true of the second. I love all the day-to-day mundanity of the setting, but the climax just seemed to fling way too much at me all at once and (mostly) failed on the emotional impact side. I think Alan's a fantastic character, very interesting, but I'm not scared for him. Annabel's kind of awesome, I wish she'd had a bit more screen time.
I bought a pair of bright pink and black brogues today. They're fucking awesome, and look a bit like they should belong to a batman villan. I'm going to start constructing my evil alter-ego from the feet upwards, any thoughts?
