Tezuka: He is not the same as before. That is the man that is Sanada Genichirou.

Yanagi: He would say that my words are foolish, but we were able to go to Nationals because we were pushed by Genichirou's spirit.

CHECK 1: In the world of middle school tennis, the other's existence is one they're mutually aware of.

Atobe and Sanada are mutually aware of each other's existence. Although they admit the other player's skill in front of their teammates, they never praise each other face-to-face. Is this because they're acting as longtime rivals, or do they both believe that only 1 person is needed at the top...?

Sanada: Hmph. That's an unacceptable smash!
He is acknowledging Atobe's skill. But, both of them do not like publicly admitting when the other surpasses them.

Atobe: He has also been schooled by adversity in many battles.
He looks as if he does not want to see another player other than himself caught in a difficult battle.

CHECK 2: They are both rivals who are conscious of Tezuka.

For both Atobe and Sanada, their fated rival who they acknowledge the strength of is Seigaku's Tezuka. They each met Tezuka by chance. Atobe met Tezuka in middle school at the prefecturals tournament. Sanada met Tezuka in 6th grade after the Jr. tournament. For the two of them, defeating Tezuka is more than just about the honor of winning.

(Tezuka vs. Atobe where Atobe raises Tezuka's arm)
-Tezuka is Atobe's acknowledged opponent so much that Atobe is willing to throw away the gorgeousness of his win.

(Tezuka vs.Sanada where Sanada offers his hand to pull Tezuka up)
-Only in a fight against an opponent he has acknowledged as his true rival can he experience fulfillment.

(Shinpuri where Sanada and Atobe gathered a bunch of tennis balls in front of Tezuka)
-Whatever the case may be, they compete with each other. They may be unexpectedly alike!?

Words for the two: Those two, they throw their weight around. I'm going to shut them up with my super tennis! (Kadowaki)

Words for the two: Wherever he goes...I will...follow...Atobe-san. Usu! (Kabaji)

Notes:

Anyone have a translation for Inui's "coffee?" 粉悪秘胃? I don't know if there's an agreed translation for this.

I struggled with this table a lot, so uh, I may have made more grammar and spelling mistakes since I was more focused on typing things in the right place. XD; Man these kids. England? China? Canada? They've sure been to a lot of places!

Up next will probably be their daily school life schedule~
