...But what is "moe"?

[You poor, deprived person.]

In its simplest form, moe would mean 'cuteness', but it's much more than that. It goes even beyond the word adorable! Moe is when someone seems so fragile that you want to take them home and protect them (or even do more than that)!

You mean like little girls?

That is one side of it, but that's not all. It's often used in a more romantic sense. Though the two do overlap for some people.

Dude. Nobody knows what you're talking about.

Then it's about time they were educated. I pity anyone who has to go through life without manga or anything similar.

What, like Dragonball Z?

That's one of the most well-known series, but there is much more to manga than that.

Moe?

[Why does no one know what moe means?]

Yes, basically cuteness. It also includes emotions such as protectiveness, and can very easily cross over into romance, too.

Oh!!! I like that a lot then.

It's good to know that I'm not the only one! I was starting to get worried.

Is that a spell?

No, though it would make a very interesting spell. It basically means cuteness that inspires protectiveness, and often some romantic feelings, too.

That sounds like what Tamaki does.

He's the founder of the Host Club, right? He does seem like he's more likely to understand moe than most students.

...You're talking about Japanese stuff, right?

Of course! Do you know much about Japanese stuff?

My mum's Japanese and I can read a little of it, but I don't know much about...moe. Or manga.

You should definitely read some manga! You can borrow some if you're careful with them. Most of them are in Japanese, but we've got some English ones if you have trouble with them.
