Seriously, though, if someone could do a complete, thorough, and correct job of redoing TeX's syntax so that it was modern and usable, it would be a gift to the world. And maybe people would stop using LaTeX.

Maybe it's a symptom of this mad-paced back-and-forth editing, but I'm finding my thesis growing into a giant piece of spaghetti code. And it's painful that every time I make a small change, I know I'm introducing lots of little bugs that I have to go through and fix manually, even though they're just simple type-checking bugs.
