lucky encounter

Often on Thursday night, at 7pm, an accordionist makes his way to the 61c cafe and plays inventive compositions and skillful arrangements for a couple hours to a room full of people mostly doing their homework with headphones on and their backs turned towards him. Or at least he was maybe a year and a half ago when I last saw him. For the last few months I've been trying to find him again, but was having trouble, primarily because I have another engagement during his usual 61c slot.

But tonight, following a tip, I managed to catch him a bit after 9, just as he was about to leave. I told him that I would be sad to see him go -- and so he stayed! For another hour and a half. He, a.k.a. Robert Kubacki, was as good as I remembered, and also gave me some valuable insider information about the local scene. He's going to give a special performance Nov 17, same venue -- you all should check it out.
