over on adoptabunny a plot was posted to write Loiss' last moments after Clark Poisons her. I think I handled it well. Maybe a bit sapppy but its my story!

Disclaimers: The characters in the story do not belong to me. They belong to DC comics, and a bunch of other people.

The Last moments

She watches him come to her. He does every morning. It is the one moment of Clark's time she can still claim.

Lois Lane had wasted her life, on Clark Kent, the next story, and cigarettes. The one thing she still claims with pride and joy is her career. The stories that had caused her sweat and tears and anguish beyond measure.

The smoking, she should have given up when Clark and she were still partners; she just had never got around to it. As for Clark, she has known almost since they married that he would never belong to her. It was superman she wanted but Clark had been close enough.

She remembers as if it were yesterday, Martha and Jonathan smiling and so very happy. Pete and Lana, Chloe and who ever she had been seeing at the time.

Clark was attentive, caring, and never entirely hers. On their honeymoon he had gone to stop a flood, help control a forest fire and helped settle several international disputes. Lois had won several awards for the stories. Clark had smiled and put on a wonderful show for the press.

The first time she had walked in on Lex and Clark she had just stared for a long time; a part of her was utterly turned on. She had walked out. Her only comment to Clark had been to keep it out of their bedroom. He had.

The years had seen her grow old. The two men hadn't changed. Clark was as vibrant as ever Green eyes dark hair tall and handsome. If anything the grief he had suffered, the losses in his life had made him more attractive. Lex was still Lex. Charm and swov sophistication, all smooth skin. She had briefly made him hers but his heart had been held by another.

When her heart had started giving her problems, Clark had asked her to stop smoking. They hadn't spoken for two weeks.

After the first heart attack, she cut back. Her hectic career never slowed. Clark had become an editor and she had found another partner. Time had flown past on silent wings.

Every once in a while, Superman would save her. Those nights he would make love with her under the moonlight, the stars shining down on them. He was hers then and she was content.

"Lois." His voice is quiet and sad.

There is no saving her and that is what saddens him. She knows that if he could he would make her well and young. He would turn back the clock to when all of life was before them.

She blinks to say she heard. Her health has worsened. This most recent stroke took her voice. Her hands tremble.

He raises the bed. He strokes her cheek and there are tears in his eyes. She tries to shake her head, wanting him not to cry.

He hands her the mug with the special lid and straw. She sips gratefully. He speaks with her of the previous day. He tells her what he plans for the next week.

She finishes her coffee and Clark lowers the bed.

She turns her head and Lex stands in the door. His eyes hold no expression.

She feels cold, numbness slowly rising from her toes.

Clark rises and walks towards Lex and away from her. Lex pulls him close.

She understands what they have done and cannot be angry or even hurt. She feels relief. They could not turn back the clock but at least Clark could move forward.

She hopes that next time; in their next life they will all be wiser. She thinks she will miss the paper and her nights with superman. As her next journey begins she feels at peace. She will not have to share anything any more.

End
