Rec!

the Dresden Files by Jim Butcher.

Go, buy, read.

Book 1: Storm Front. the series is told in first pperson with Harry Dresden, narating. Magic is real and harry is the one called when there are no solutions science can explain. Dry whit, fantastical beings and very real feeling characters.

The plot of Storm Front is pretty simple. People are being brutally killed and magic is the only way these particular killing could be done. We are introduced to some of the main characters.

Harry himself, of course, wize cracking, sarcastic, jaided, and still doing what is right.

Karren Murphy: cop and in charge of SI special investigations unit where the unexplained crimes are sent. Her relationship with Dresden is complecated by the fact that there are things he can't tell her.

suzan Rodriguez: reporter, love interest and spunky.

John Marcone: crime boss dubbed as having a tiger's soul by Harry. they don't hit it off well and yet they have more in common than Harry would like to admit.

Morgan: Harry's warden guy that doesn't like him too well. Through Harry's eyes he's truly an ass.

the plot itself, I figured out pretty quick but the way magic is used is very interesting.

there are the traditional fairies, summer and winter courts. The neat thing is that these creatures from the "never Nevver" don't even pretend to be human and they're all bound by very strict rules.

Vampires too, not at all nice.

It sucked me in against my will.

You just get attached to all of the characters.

I'll get round to book two eventually.
