The Power of Three
In every civilization, from England to Australia, from Earth to Aneyxia - the power of three ruled over them. Three words, three letters, three syllables. Always the same, always so little to describe so much. It never ceased to amaze him. It never ceased to never fully encompass the whole of it.
Love. I love you. Je vous aime. Ich liebe dich. Le amo. Minä rakastan sinua. Jag älskar dig. A million ways he could have said it. A million more he could have expressed it.
But he hadn't. The time had passed. Time - he, the Lord over it and yet he could never turn it back, not once, not just to utter three seemingly insignificant words that would have had the capacity to change it all. To change him. To change them.
Regret was nothing new with him, nor with his species, the Time Lords. So many things they regretted, so many things he himself had wished never came to be - but this - this was beyond regret. This was beyond anything his infinite brain could comprehend.
And now it was lost in time and space. Gone in a blink of an eye. Rose Tyler.
