Now that the damn paperwork is finished I can finally take a look through this gap. I'm not one for paying much attention ta my surroundings, but I'm pretty certain it wasn't here before this morning. What is a hollow?

A hollow is a spirit that has become corrupt due ta not being able to let go of their attachments in the living world. They prey on and eat normal souls to survive which imbalances the number of spirits. This is why shinigami such as me have ta make sure that these hollow's are cleansed, not only to stop them from eating other souls, but so that they can pass through to Soul Society. Which I guess ya may know as the afterlife.

Dammit Rukia's a lot better at explaining this than I am, I hope this all makes sense.

Afterlife... soul... and a soul, it is what makes an individual unique, is it not?

We have ghosts in my world.... beings who cannot move on... Sometimes they are harmful but mostly they cause mischief. They are a nuisance to me...

But this concept of "afterlife" perplexes me. I have always referred to the end of life as "leaving this world..." I never imagined that there might be another to which beings might go.

I find this significant... but I cannot understand why.

Ghosts that cannot move on? In the world I'm from it would be the job of a shinigami ta make sure that they can move on. I wonder whether my powers would have any influence there ( ... )

Sorry, I can't help ya there. I wound up in a totally unfamiliar place and I've been trying to find the answer to that same question. But if all else fails, ask the locals!

Huh maybe I should have got a gigai (fake body) from Urahara's, as I dunno whether if there is anyone around, and if there is whether they'll even be able to damn well see me in my shinigami form.
