One thing I'd like to note is that, if you want to encourage LJ users who aren't in fandom to join the site then it's probably best to keep "fan" out of the title. Fans will find the site no matter what -- having a haven for them, especially in regard to the treatment they get on a lot of journaling sites, is probably enough of a draw -- but many non-fans will avoid a site with "fan" in the title because they'll assume it has nothing to offer them.
As for a name you can get as a domain... Many domains these days are taken, so I would recommend combining two words that describe what kind of service you're offering (ala. Live Journal, Word Press, Type Pad). Maybe figure out what features will make your service stand out and create a name from that.
I think the word "haven" would be quite good :) Or home, something friendly sounding.
That definitely has some potential. I think that a welcoming/friendly-sounding name would help create a good impression on people looking for a place to host their journal.
definition: the indistinct sound of people whispering; "a soft susurrus of conversation
I think that it's a really cool sounding name, and isn't linked specifically to the idea of journaling, or fandom, but in no way excludes them either. Also, it's a really neat word.
